Lorenzo Peretto, an IEEE Senior Member, joined the EE Department at the University of Bologna as an assistant professor and subsequently became an associate professor. He participated in the IEEE working group for the revision of Standard 1459-2000 and has worked in the IEC TC 25, “on the new definition of the Ampere.” He is an IEC representative in the BIPM Joint Committee for Guides in Metrology and chair of the IMS TC 39. He has authored or co-authored more than 180 scientific papers and is a co-inventor of 21 patents. His present fields of research include digital signal processing and measurements for the analysis of power quality, novel techniques for the characterization of voltage and current transducers instrumentation design for flicker measurement, prediction of reliability, and reliability tests. He received his MS and PhD degrees in Electronic Engineering and Electrotechnical Engineering from the University of Bologna in 1993 and 1997, respectively.
