IEEE Smart Grid Survey
IEEE Smart Grid commissioned a survey of 460 smart grid executives worldwide to glean their insights on global grid modernization in the near term. The findings, analyzed by Zpryme Research & Consulting, revealed that energy storage, distributed generation, and microgrid technologies will lead grid development over the next five years.
The resulting report, Power Systems of the Future: The Case for Energy Storage, Distributed Generation, and Microgrids, was released in November 2012. It examines how energy storage, distributed generation, and microgrid technologies will be deployed in energy systems, the industries most likely to deploy them, software and systems markets that will emerge as a result, and benefits of deployment.
Energy storage, distributed generation and microgrids will align with incentives, standards, policy, and customer engagement in a long-range plan to realize the revolutionary benefits of Smart Grid.
