Great start for smart grid web portal
By Kate Rowland at IntelligentUtility.com
Last fall, I wondered out loud whether a smart grid web portal was an idea whose time was past. Well, in this case, I was wrong.
Yesterday, the IEEE launched the web portal, and it's already got the makings of everything originally promised. As well, if it evolves as planned, it will grow organically, and provide a portal to other organizations' smart grid work, too.
I spoke late last week with Wanda Reder, chair of the IEEE Smart Grid Task Force, about the site, which is designed to offer a consolidated gateway to smart grid intelligence, education and news across and beyond IEEE. Designed to be used by manufacturers, policymakers, educators, academics, governments, researchers and other stakeholders in the power and energy, IT and communications industries, the site also offers intelligence, information, education programs, and technology standards available throughout the IEEE.
