Keeping Current with the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel

IEEE members have a presence on the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel
Since forming in November 2009, the four-month-old Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP) met for its first "face-to-face" on March 16 and 17.

During this formational period, the SGIP has established leadership bodies, foundational technical committees, and administrative procedures that support the Panel to achieve its objectives. Coordination of the roles and responsibilities of these new groups was the theme for the meeting. The SGIP also welcomed its 568th member organization, learned about how the Smart Grid standards effort intersects with the newly announced National Broadband Plan Response, and discussed upcoming technical milestones on the path to a modernized electricity infrastructure.
